We Switched To The Thesis Theme!
Over the course of several days I was in a conversation about the new Thesis Theme for WordPress with three different people. Then about a day later a client emailed me and asked me to do some work on the WordPress site and said that they have the Thesis WordPress theme. So I took the hint and installed it on this site.
Chris Pearson, Thesis Theme = Customizable
The Thesis Theme for WordPress, developed by Chris Pearson, has more customizable features than any WordPress theme that I ever worked with. In the past I had found Techozoid to be pretty flexible with colors and adjustments, although they were tied to different regions. Chris wanted a theme that gave the webmaster all the tools to customize the site without the knowledge of HTLH, PHP or CSS coding.
On the 5 pages of Thesis theme options you have access to changing and customizing almost all the features of your blog right from the admin section. Admin is business as usual from the point of being a regular WordPress easy- to-navigate back end except the theme customizing section has 40-50 features that you can change to your little creative heart’s content. Things that can be turned on and off like a switch include:
- Font and headline sizes
- Font and headline colors
- Number of columns
- Width of columns
- Background colors of entire blog
- Header images
- Feed properties
- Navigation menu options
- And more….
Other custom options include the hook feature where even novice bloggers can edit the CSS files and the handy-dandy image rotating display that I currently have on the sidebar. Trust me when I say that I am not even taking advantage of 50% of the features on the theme. Need more time!! (Don’t we all!?)
WordPress Theme Support
I haven’t spent a whole lot of time learning my new Thesis theme. I just bought it, installed it and set this up like it is now in a short afternoon. I plan to go back in and continue to learn more about it. The support system in place is awesome. That is one thing that has always bugged me about free WordPress themes. If they do not perform right, the developer never answers your questions. Chris Pearson prides himself on the blog support network that he has put into place. I am actually just getting ready to go test it out now regarding my All In One SEO plugin. Thesis Theme for WordPress does not need the plugin at all because the theme itself has the SEO built in. My first question to the support department is how to get my SEO information into the Thesis SEO without having to retype it page by page. You will be hearing more on the Thesis theme in the future!
WordPress Theme Change – Warning!
Remember that when you change your theme some things may no longer be compatible. Plugins are often the most frequent issues when a theme change is made. Other things may change too, like image alignments, column width (may affect videos) etc. If you have any troubles with your WordPress blog, we do fix WordPress problems and if we cannot fix it then we know who can.
