Writing Keywords-SEO Suggestions

I am a web surfer. It is one of my favorite pasttimes. I enjoy it as much as I do real surfing. The web is a beautiful place.  In my travels, I visit many places and see some really funny titles and keywords.

A Suggestion For Keywords

Think about your post’s title and keywords before writing your title and posting your article!

This simple suggestion will make a world of difference in your search engine results. (SER)  Everyone wants to show up on page 1 of the Google search engine results page (SERP).  For that to happen, you need to think a bit before posting your article with some silly title and keywords.

Writing Titles For Your Article

When writing the title for your article it should reflect what the article is about. It can even repeat what was stated in the title if it does so naturally. Let’s say you are writing an article quoting an inspirational message that George Bush once said. (Did he ever say anything inspirational?) Let’s further assume that your site caters to direct sales professionals.

Here we go:
Good Keywords, George Bush

“I’m telling you there’s an enemy that would like to attack America, Americans, again. There just is. That’s the reality of the world. And I wish him all the very best.”–George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Jan. 12, 2009

So do we title our article George Bush Inspires The Enemy or do we title it Direct Sales Motivation Of The Day ?

Keywords In SEO

Search engine optimization (SEO) is making your article search engine-friendly.  Simply put, the search engine decides, based on many variables, whether your article will bring value to the searcher.  Your article’s title and keywords need to be reflected in the article along with appropriate synonyms in order for your article be deemed worthy of page one results.

Meta Tags & Descriptions-Optimization

The title, keyword and description of each article should also be included in the meta tags.  This is in the code section of your website.  While meta tags were far more important in the past, putting everything in place consistently will give you a better chance of rising to the top of the SERP.  For those using WordPress blogging formats, I strongly recommend using the “All In One SEO” plugin for your meta tags, titles and descriptions.

Not Good Keyword Phrases

Think about your keyword phrase and decide if it is something that the people whom you would like to come to the website would type into the search bar.  Using our George Bush quote, the first title may very well land on the home page, yet who is going to find it?  Someone looking for George Bush information.  The second keyword phrase will bring direct sellers looking for motivation.

Cute or funny may catch the eye of the reader but will they catch the SERP of the search engines? These are not good keyword phrases for SEO:

Butterfly Inspiration

Colossal Grand Sale

Don’t Get Green With Envy

1 Year Anniversary Give-Away

Think about your post’s title and keywords before posting your article!

  • Who do you want to find it?
  • What will they be looking for?
  • Do your article title and keywords reflect the keywords that someone looking for that information would type into Google?
  • How do people think when typing in the search bar?

Take a quick look at this article to see how the titles, subtitles and keywords support each other to make a SEO friendly article.  (There are still no guarantees!)
