Yes – Social bookmarking can be very effective. If another person posts an article on a social bookmarking site, it really can send you loads of traffic.
However, sometimes the traffic is highly UNTARGETED.
You really want TARGETED traffic for your website to be a success.
You are 100% right Bob which is why it is important to have your profile updated with your niche information and be consistent in your online presence for social networking. Pick forums and blogs to comment on that are related to your niche. Have your profiles reflect what you are interested in networking about and add value to those interested in your niche and the traffic will be more targeted.
In blogging, making a comment on a site that does not add value to the article will not be approved. Be sure that you are not blatantly advertising as that becomes spam.
